 Scholar Start: In a comment to today's post, respond to the following question: 

At Thomas Nelson High School, we talk a lot about what it means to be a citizen.  For example, to gain the “Citizenship” cord, you are required to meet certain attendance and community service requirements.  That’s part of what citizenship means to us as a school.  What does citizenship mean to you?

  1. i think it means that you will help someone out that needs help with something, also being nice to them and help clean your place, anywhere you are at.

  3. Citizenship means that you are well-organized and want to maintain a strong outlook on other students. Meaning you show up to school and not fall behind in classes.

  4. It means to me that it could mean that you help people with stuff,and picking trash up off the ground,and it could also mean you support your friends,and family if they need help that what i think this means to me.

  10. Citizenship means to me is when your part of a certain country. You can gain citizenship by being in a certain place for a period of time. There are others types of citizenship. You can do good for the community and that counts as into citizenship to.

  11. Citizenship to me a trait. To me I use it to describe someone that does a good thing. For example, doing community service shows citizenship. Its describing how good it makes you look if you do community service. By "good you look" I do not mean your characteristics, I mean your personality. This is what citizenship means to me.

Citizenship means to be apart of your community, to make a change by going out in the world and doing something right that will be a great thing for you and your community, and to be able to say that i'm a great citizen because I made a change in our community by doing community service like cleaning up a park or by donating to a charity.

  28. Displaying good citizenship simply means being a good citizen and being apart of your community. There are many attributes that can define you as a good citizen: being trustworthy, respecting the rights of others, following the law, being compassionate, taking responsibility for your own actions, etc..

  30. Citizenship doesn't necessarily mean you are extremely active in your community. Though that is an important part of citizenship that isn't the big picture. The Big picture is the smaller pictures, all the little details that are woven together to make the masterpiece like the Mona Lisa. Holding the door open, Saying "hello how was ur day", the small things that could make a persons day so much better. Its being polite and positive even when those around you are negative and rude, Citizenship isn't something you do in public its something you practice. And practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent! And those who see, do as they see. So if someone see's you being polite then they will be polite to someone else. One act of kindness is Citizenship to me, and it always will be.

  34. Being a good citizen means being actively and positively involved in your community. Citizenship is key to a community. Examples of a person who shows good citizenship would be someone who volunteers, reaches out to others, is actively involved and puts forth effort to make their community a better place.

You should also want to help others, work together to get things accomplished and always be supportive because you never know what the other person is going through so be kind and polite.
